Allergens
Edible flowers are a beautiful and natural addition to food and the risk of allergic reactions is very low. However, they may not be suitable for everyone.
Flowers naturally contain pollen and despite careful handling, small traces of pollen from other species may be carried by insects that move between crops. For this reason, we do not recommend edible flowers for individuals with severe pollen or food allergies.
Please be mindful that some people may be unaware they have sensitivities to certain plants, particularly young children who have not yet been exposed to a wide range of foods. If you are unsure, we recommend trying only a very small quantity at first and monitoring for any reaction.
Our flowers do not contain any of the 14 major allergens named under UK/EU food law. However, some varieties belong to plant families known to cause reactions in sensitive individuals. For example: fennel and coriander are part of the celery family.
We clearly label all of our products with their botanical (Latin) species names so you can make informed choices about what is safe for you.
