Centaurea cyanus is our native cornflower that once grew as a weed in cornfields throughout the UK. Our wild cornflower, with its beatiful bright blue petals is now considered to be endangered in its native habitat due to the widespread use of industrial agricultural techniques. These beautiful flowers are surrounded by a ring of purple - lilac spiky petals and have a stiff stem with an occasional leaf. Best used for decoration, only the petals are edible.
