Calendula officinalis is aromatic plant with a long history of use by many cultures. Originally native to southern Europe, it has been cultivated across Europe and the Middle East for centuries. The petals, which are completely edible and have a mild flavour come in shades of orange and yellow and have long been used to brighten up salads. These large yellow flowers, reminicent of sunflowers occasionally have a hint of orange in the petals.
